Drifting Elizabeth

I am a freelance book reviewer and writer in the Richmond, VA area. I sometimes throw food, travel, and lifestyle into the mix.

About Drifting Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth and I’m so excited to see you here!

I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania. One thing I knew from an early age was how much I wanted to explore the world outside of my little bubble. As a child, I did it through the books I would read; as an adult, I was lucky enough to explore new places through work. Little kid me never would have imagined I would one day see the Taj Mahal in India or ride a dune buggy in the deserts of the UAE!

And then 2020 happened.

During the pandemic, I (like everyone else) found myself at an impasse. I missed my work planning international travel itineraries, but I also realized I had a newfound appreciation for things I hadn’t before. I missed traveling and exploring, but I also missed being around people, and I missed hanging around the place I currently call home, Charlottesville, VA.  I went from having wanderlust to wanting to share all the things I love with people for a much-needed connection during an isolated time. All these feelings turned into restless energy until one day, encouraged by my sweet husband (an Emergency Room physician who deserves a shoutout for all the good that he does), I started to channel it into something more positive – my website, Drifting Elizabeth (formerly Drift Cville).

A lot has changed since I started this blog. In 2023, my husband and I welcomed a baby boy (the absolute best thing I’ve ever done), and then in the fall of 2025 we relocated to Midlothian, VA. I thought I was a tried and true Charlottesville resident, but turns out I absolutely love being outside of Richmond. The city mouse who once lived in New York and Pittsburgh still exists, and it’s been a great change for our family. Plus, now I get to add new elements to the site!

This blog is my way of sharing all the things I feel passionately about with you. Some of my content will still be centered around this area of Virginia (including Charlottesville). Still, I’ll be sharing things I’m learning as a mom, as well as my other interests.

If there’s something you would like to see or if you are interested in working with me, please feel free to reach out to me at elizabeth@driftingelizabeth.com. You can also follow me on Instagram and TikTok. My handle is @drifting_elizabeth.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy watching and reading about my adventures. Until next time, cheers and happy exploring!

I also highly recommend the avocado toast - so good, especially with a Bloody Maria. 🥑
